CSS Group providing IP-based broadcast control system solution for technical platform relocation project of Zhejiang CZTV International Film & Television Center

The increasingly higher demand from TV audience and popularization of home 4K ultra HD TV are leading to more urgent need for production and broadcasting of UHD TV programs. On one hand, it’s more and more difficult for traditional media production and broadcasting media to keep abreast with technical advancements due to limited bandwidth. On the other hand, as new media platforms are evolving rapidly, traditional TV media are urged to achieve integration with new media distribution platforms. It can be therefore concluded that SDI OVER IP technology will become the natural trend for traditional TV media in the future.

The IP-based broadcast control system project for CZTV is the first provincial station channel in China that plans to use SDI Over IP broadcasting. As CZTV has been completely relocated to Zhejiang International Film & Television Center (at Ningwei Town, Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou), existing technical platform will be moved and updated as well. To better serve the live broadcast and rebroadcast business of two major platforms: China Blue News and China Blue TV, a new IP-based broadcast control system is planned to be built at Zhejiang International Film & Television Center. This project includes four SDI OVER IP broadcast channels, each of which requires efficient broadcasting, complete channel packaging and video recording & playing functions, and support to data management, log, and time display. Both self-produced programs and those provided by other organizations should be broadcast safely.

During this project, CSS Group cooperated with Imagine Communication Company, a famous enterprise in broadcast & TV industry, and recommended the virtual micro service solution from Imagine to the customer.

This solution adopted a universal server to match the virtual broadcast system, thus creating an IP-based solution for the whole system of the customer. Unlike the existing broadcast servers that use baseband cores and embedded IP conversion modules, this solution features full-core IP-based processing, thus being able to achieve real full-process non-compression SDI Over IP function.

Besides, based on the requirements defined for this CZTV broadcast system, Gravue provided an overall solution based on MagiLive smart broadcast software system, which fully ensures safe, reliable, and stable operation of the system.
